In celebration of World Shark Day this July 14th the team at Rob Stewart Sharkwater Foundation would like to extend an offer to the Lush community to watch the film that started it all.
A Rob Stewart Film
Sharkwater
The feature documentary Sharkwater, winner of more than 40 international awards. Directed by Rob Stewart.
Credited as igniting the movement to protect sharks, this action adventure documentary broke box office records and changed hearts and minds in people around the world, resulting in government policy changes, the creation of conservation groups, and a massive public outcry to end shark finning. Shark finning is banned in many countries, and the Fin Free movement is working towards global commitments to ban this practice.
Shark populations are in crisis due to the global trade in shark fins. Every year, fins from more than 100 million sharks are traded throughout the world. In May, officials in Hong Kong made the largest shark fin seizure in the city’s history, uncovering 26 tons inside two shipping containers.
The Shark Fin Sales Elimination Act will help end this attack on sharks and healthy oceans. Last November, the House of Representatives passed the Shark Fin Sales Elimination Act, H.R. 737 and now the Senate must take action to pass its companion bill, S. 877. Please tell the U.S. Senate to vote YES to the Shark Fin Sales Elimination Act, Bill S.877 and sign the petitions below.
This legislation bans the sale and trade of shark fins, and stops illegal shark fins from being shipped through U.S. ports.
